One Day Food – DC

Be it fine dine or street food, I love trying different cuisines. I keep forgetting the places, I have been to and hence decided to start writing about the food getaways.

1. Breakfast: Since I have been in Washington for the cherry blossoms I have decided to start the day with donuts that have cherry blossoms on them. Astro donuts have specialised donuts just for the cherry blossom festival. I din’t get a chance to get those donuts but I heard that its an amazing place and I am sure you can find hell lot of pictures on their Instagram page. Astro donuts
2. Lunch: When I am on a vacation for a day or two, I like fine dining. For lunch I choose a Lebanese cuisine with name Lebanese Taverna. I loved this cuisine when I first tried in Dubai. This is a big restaurant in Tysons Galleria, a shopping mall in Virginia. Lebanese taverna

The kabobs are very tasty from this place. My favourite part in any Lebanese restaurant are the kabob platters. None of my friends eat red meat and they are not fans of sea food, so we went ahead and ordered chicken kabobs. I did not intend to post them on my blog so I don’t have good pictures from the food places.

We also ordered one Taverna platter, Taste of Lebanon. It was a choice of many meats and we choose chicken shawarma which came with hummus, fattoush and Lebanese rice.  I am not a great fan of hummus, but the rest of my friends really loved the chef created hummus from Lebanese Taverna. The Chicken samosas and shawarma sliders were not very different from the regular ones. 

Finally, who doesn’t want a sweet ending? I loveeeeeeee desserts. I ordered Halawet Jibne and Traditional Baklawa. I am not a great fan of Baklawa but this is super good. Halawet Jibne is a sweet cheese crepe and so far the best cheese dessert I have had.

       3. Dinner: There is this fancy place called Iron gate Inn which first welcomed patrons in 1922. It has nice ambience and good food. Iron Gate

Good news for Selfie lovers, there is a Photo Booth in the patio.

 

 

I ordered smoked Deviled eggs, Acquerello rissotto, Winter squash lasagna, and Chicken Youvarlakia. I loved the smoked Deviled Eggs of all the items. I was too full to eat a dessert so I skipped dessert.

 

     4. Cherry Blossom Pub: This is by far the best pub I have been in any of the countries with the best cocktail I have ever tasted. I tried three different cocktails and Cherry Blossom G&T is the best. It came with an orchid flower which happens to be my favourite flower. The whole place has been decorated with cherry blossoms as the name suggests. CherryBlossom Pub
